I've known about Dave Attell for a number of years. He has hosted the television shows "Insomniac" and "Dave's Old Porn". He's also a veteran stand-up comic. So I had to buy a ticket when I heard he was coming to little ol' Burlington,VT.
My friend Ashley accompanied me to this show. After watching 2 decent opening acts, we settled in for Dave. It's hard to describe Mr. Attell's comedy. He seems to just come onstage and unload a ton of the funny crap in his mind. There are lots of non-sequiturs in his act. He will be discussing awful presidents and then cut into a discussion about obsessive masturbation. The man is fast on his feet. Because of his tendency to jump from topic to topic,I can't recall specific jokes. But I was crying from laughing.
After the set, I found him hanging out in front of the club talking to fans. I jumped in, and he nicely took a photo with me. Dave is a very good guy, and he is one of the funniest men out there.
Below my ticket stub is a photo of me with Mr. Attell.

Doug Stanhope/July 6,2017/Burlington,VT
My previous 3 Stanhope shows were in Montreal. So this was my first time seeing him perform in America. (Only 30 miles from my home at that!) My pal Harold accompanied me to this one.
The structure of this show was a bit ramshackle. Doug walked out onstage unannounced to *open* for his opening act. After a while, the actual opener walked up and drunkenly rambled to the crowd for about 15 minutes. He may be a funny guy generally, but he was TOO far gone to perform well that night. And I cannot recall his name.
Then out came Doug, full of alcohol, Adderall and a brand new hour of material. He covered Go Fund Me for dead kids' parents, suicide, murder and a host of other topics which keep him out of the mainstream. He was highly coherent at this show, and it's probably the 2nd best show I've seen him do.
He had to deal with 2 people taking cell phone photos (a bad idea at Doug's shows) plus a couple disruptive audience members. Sadly there was no merchandise for sale at this show, so we didn't get a chance to greet Doug or buy his stuff. Maybe next time. Below my ticket stub is one poor photo I managed to get at the show.

Rich Vos/June 17,2017/Burlington,VT
This was my first Rich Vos show. I had heard his name here and there over the years, but I had never paid attention to him. And the tickets were half-price,so I figured I would give him a try. My pal Josh attended the show with me,and we were seated right at the front of the stage.
After the so-so female opening act,out came Mr. Vos. Fairly quickly I realized he would incorporate me into the show. He joked about my cargo shorts and wondered out loud if I had a dead girl tied to a rocking chair in my basement. (Among other things.) He joked with other people, too. I was just RIGHT THERE so I was an easy target. I don't take any of that stuff seriously, and I was happy to be the butt of his jokes.
After the show,Rich was selling his new CD in the lobby. I bought a copy and got a photo with him. Check out Rich Vos if you get the chance. Below my ticket stub is my photo with him.

Brian Posehn/June 3,2017/Burlington,VT
I almost didn't go to this show. My pal Bryan told me about it a few days before,so I checked out Posehn on YouTube. Liking what I saw,I decided to buy a VIP ticket online that day. Good thing I did.
It's hard to describe Mr. Posehn. He's known as a "heavy metal nerd" comedian. His comedy is surreal and self-deprecating and more. This is a guy who must be seen to be understood. After the show Brian was hanging out in the lobby of the Vermont Comedy Club. So my pals decided to go and chat with him for a bit while I hung out in the background. A very nice guy and extremely funny.

Joe DeRosa/February 18,2017/Burlington,VT
This was another fun night at the Vermont Comedy Club with my pal Adam. If you like your comedy extra dark,Joe is the man for you. He discusses depression,alcoholism,suicide,fat-shaming and a host of other fun topics. Through it all,he is totally honest,articulate,self-deprecating and laugh-out-loud funny.
I used to listen to Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast on a regular basis. Bill would regularly mention Joe's name on the show. So.....many thanks to Bill for introducing me to this very funny guy.
Let's hope Joe goes on to bigger and better things. His new special is called "You Let Me Down".

Matt Braunger/February 11,2017/Burlington,VT
I'm not sure why Matt Braunger is not a more popular comedian. He can be goofy, intelligent, articulate, and funny as Hell. I first heard of him on the Netflix special "Big Dumb Animal", and I proceeded to buy his I-Tunes albums.
My pals Adam and Josh accompanied me to this show at the fairly new Vermont Comedy Club in Burlington,VT. It's a fairly small but classy place on lower Main Street. I'm guessing a capacity crowd would be 50-100 people. We enjoyed some soft drinks and chicken nachos as the first 2 warm-up acts were on stage. I wish I could remember the guy's name, because he was really good.
Matt eventually came out to do about a solid hour of material. He covered all kinds of stuff, and it was almost all fresh to me. The closing bit about ordering Domino's pizza while under the influence of mushrooms was great. I hope bigger and better things come for Matt Braunger and the Vermont Comedy Club.

Louis C.K./August 6,2016/Springfield,MA
This was my 3rd time seeing Louis C.K. For this show I stayed overnight in nearby West Springfield. Just a couple days previous,West Springfield had been in the news for a 150 lb. alligator being found in someone's backyard.
The show took place at the 8,000 person MassMutual Center. (Previously the Springfield Civic Center.) My seat was in the back of the floor section. Thankfully the facility erected 2 large video screens for those in the *hard-to-see* areas.
Louis's material included suicide, marriage, education, bad choices and abortion. I was laughing so hard I cried. And I was not the only one. The show was an absolute success. Of note was Louis's wardrobe. He generally wears jeans and a black t-shirt for shows. This time around he was dressed in a suit and tie. Very sharp and extremely funny.
